In college I used to look forward to Thursday for the sole reason that just about everywhere had some sort of Thirsty Thursday special. Thursdays were often more fun than actual weekend days. Then I grew up and it no longer was quite as appropriate to drink that much on a week night. Although I will say my roommate and I made the dire mistake of registering for an early morning Friday class with required attendance so despite our shenanigans the night before we always made it to class. Generally looking haggered, unshowered, and with a HUGE bottle of water in tow but we went. Much to the dismay of the person who sat next to me and had to smell me. TMI? We all have skeletons in our closets. I may have to start some sort of drink special on the blog to relive the carefree college days. In addition one of the best parts of summer has to be fruity, chilled beverages. They are beautiful in their own right and make a statement on any table. If you are getting married outdoors considering having a refreshing beverage available at the ceremony site to keep guests comfortable and hydrated! When I stumbled across this recipe- I had to share. Plus the addition of chalkboard paint for labeling purposes made it even better! Of course you can add chalkboard paint to the main container too so guests know what they are about to drink! Cups with names on them are a great way to reduce the number of glasses you’ll need as no one will lose theirs. So whether like me you miss college or you just love a good refreshing, fruit filled drink on a hot day- this concoction is for you.
Raspberry Beer Cocktail
- 3/4 cup frozen raspberries
- 3 1/2 (12-oz.) bottles beer, chilled
- 1 (12-oz.) container frozen raspberry lemonade concentrate, thawed
- 1/2 cup vodka
- Garnish: lemon and lime slices
Looks easy enough and sounds delicious! I will definitely be testing this one out! You could also substitute strawberries or any assortment of berries, mango, watermelon… the possibilities are endless!
Happy Thirsty Thursday- what will you be drinking?

I think cocktail Thursday sounds delightful and you may be on to something
Either way, that drink looks fantastic and summery. Great find!
LOVE the whole chalkboard paint on the glass thing! Yeah, and the drink looks yummy too! Haha! Thanks for sharing
This looks gorgeous and delicious! I love the idea of thirsty Thursday!
looks so yummy!
Raspberry and beer?!?! This is genius!
John is drinking at a place called Flora-Bama, on the border of FL and AL (clever, right?) so I’ll be enjoying a margarita in absentia!
What a tasty recipe and cute idea! By the way, Thursdays were better nights for me to go out in college than Fridays were, I lived for them!
YUM! I think what I love most about this recipe is that it LOOKS like a pretty girl drink, but really…it has BEER for the guys
I love this idea!
lol. Alicia you kill me. Thursday’s were HUGE for us in college, too. Weird concept when applied to the real world.
xoxo
I have got to make this drink for a party I’m throwing soon! I have a big pitcher for it too! I love that you said you got older and realized it wasn’t right to drink during the week anymore! LOL, my hubby and I tried to hold on to our college days for as long as we could staying in our college town for a year and still going out on weekends even after graduating! But there is nothing wrong with a glass of wine during the week right?
Oh of course Melina! I fully condone a glass or two of wine mid-week! Just no jello shots.
now THIS post really speaks to me… i’m right there with you girl! loving the idea of thirsty thursdays!!! xo
This recipe looks great…my sort of drink!
I love this idea!! I’m going to include it in a post, fyi.
Can I come over for a drink?
I have a giant glass jar that looks just like that, (left over from the wedding of course!) and I’ve been wondering what to do with it! I’m definitely bringing it out for our first cookout and possibly painting it with chalkboard paint! Thanks for the inspiration!

What kind of beer do you recommend?
I would go for a standard light beer… Coors light, Miller Light, etc. If you want it to be sweeter you could do like a Berryweis from Leinenkugels. (sp?)

I can’t wait till it gets warm out so I can make these
This one will be shared at many backyard bar-b-ques..bring on the warmth and Lemonade..SUper Great idea
Love this Too – we call em Beer Cosmo’s actually like it best with Bud Lite Lime beer – cheers!
We used to call this Summer Beer! So good
What kind of beer do you reccommend? My group likes Lite, Mich Ultra or Corona Light. Would love to do this for my luau bunco party!
Any of those options would be great. You’d likely notice the Corona more but if you are going for subtle beer flavor a Mich Ultra would be great.

do you add any water to the cocentrate?
Nope- that is what the beer is for!
* I made this on April 28, 2012 and it was awesome! Very similar to a Summer Beer Recipe I have used before.
I love the large serving jar! Where did you get it?
You can find them at most department stores, Target, Kohl’s… your best bet may be online though! You can often find a better selection and prices online!
Did the recipe make the amount that is pictured? I want to make this for a large party I’m having and didn’t know if I needed to double the recipe or not?
It’s probably too late but I would suggest doubling if it is for a large party although this does make a good amount.
What type of beer do you use?
Any light beer will work!
I just made this for a ladies’ night party I’m having. I didn’t have vodka, so I used mango rum–it’s delicious! I also doubled the recipe, which made a whole gallon or so pitcher of it! YUM!
Where can I get those chalkboard labels?
You can get them on Amazon or try Michael’s.
Made this with whipped cream vodka….Big hit!
