Make Your Home A Great Place To Relax
After a long day at the office your home is a place where you want to feel inspired, free to be yourself and at peace. In a concise manner, your home should be a sanctuary for your mind, body and spirit. It should be far from a stress-filled atmosphere that usually includes deadlines, traffic jams and work. However, if your home is not the sanctuary that you were hoping for, you could do with some perking up around the house and your verandah.
Below are several tips you can use to create a calming and tranquil atmosphere without spending a fortune:
Create a Flow
Consider placing a small water fountain in areas where you spend most of your time, such as the study, verandah or even in your living room. A water fountain does not need to cost a lot of money; in fact, you can make one by using a bowl, a small water pump and pebbles or rocks.
Create a Green Effect
Aside from adding beauty to the surroundings, bringing plants into your house can purify the air and bring in oxygen. Living plants are able to absorb air that is filled with carbon dioxide and turn it into oxygen. You should consider placing green plants in your bedroom, study and your kitchen. Some of the best plants to consider include weeping fig, red palm, Boston fern, areca palm and Australian sword fern.
Create Soothing Aromas and Scents
If you have not yet considered introducing calming aromas and scents into your home, it should be time to do so now. Create aromas and scents from natural sources, such as cinnamon brooms, herbal essences and scented flowers. Keep in mind that different flowers, sprigs and herbs generate different scents and useful results. For instance, lavender is a great stress reliever, while anise can help relieve cramps. Besides generating aromas for your home, you should also consider preparing your bath with herbs, as they are a great source to infuse your body with aromatic and healing properties.
Use the following recipe to produce a warm, homely scent for your home:
– Grab a pan and fill it with 2 inches of water
– Add a teaspoon of cinnamon and a half teaspoon of vanilla essence
– Heat the mixture on a stove until steam mounts and pervades your home.
Include Beauty of Nature into Your Home
If you want to create a sanctuary, you should consider placing stunning shells around your bathtub and sink. Smooth stones will be ideal for your study desk or even your side tables. Place some huge rocks around potted plants on your verandah for a stunning natural effect.
