Inspirational Boards: Make a Wish Foundation

Round 2 of the Inspirational Board series comes at the request of the lovely Natalie of Bayside Bride. She said she’d love to see a Make a Wish Foundation board so her wish if you will, is my command! If you are unfamiliar with the Make a Wish Foundation, their mission is to grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. The organization began in 1980 with one boy’s wish to become a police officer and has evolved massively over the years. The organization now grants one wish every 40 minutes! From wishes to receive computerized voice devices to trips to Disneyland, this organization changes lives one wish at a time! They have over 25,000 volunteers that continue to make the dreams of children come true. Their colors are blue and yellow, a favorite palette of mine, so the color scheme for this board was easy.

A blue and yellow palette can set the stage for incorporating this organization into your wedding. Mixing in a “Make a Wish” theme would be adorable with touches of shooting stars, dandelions, candles, or little ponds with an ample supply of pennies! Some ideas…

  • Create a wishing tree where guests can both leave a wish for you and perhaps even leave a nominal donation that will go to the charity.
  • Create a little wishing well and encourage guests to throw in their change.
  • Name your tables after wishes you and your new spouse had as children or wishes for your future!

The options are limitless and it would be an adorable idea for a wedding even without a great cause behind it!
