Trash the Dress Friday!

Hello Lovelies! Today’s TTD session comes to you from Brittanee Taylor. Of course I have never met or talked to Brittanee personally but her enthusiasm and passion for what she does emanates from her emails! She seems so gregarious and fun to be around. This is what Brittanee had to say about this sweet session:

This trash the dress session was very special to the bride. She had a beautiful traditional wedding at Crossroads Church in Corona. When talking about the Trash the Dress session she wanted something a little bit opposite of her wedding day which was small and intimate. I decided to take her to the beautiful downtown pasadena. This was the perfect place because it was a fun fashionable city and much “busier” than her wedding. As we walked around the busy street Jen was able to strut downtown like she owned the place! I can’t believe how many honks and thumbs up she got! She looked like a model, especially standing in front of Tiffany and Co. I know we both had such a great day!

There is nothing more beautiful than a bride! Take advantage of that and do post-wedding shoot!

Trash the Dress Friday: Vegas Style

Happy Friday! Another week is in the books and a fully glorious weekend is ahead of us! Ok, you guys I figured something out and I felt like it was my responsibility to be honest with you about the situation. I figured out why Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy broke up. I know you might have thought it was his obnoxious voice or the freakish things he can do with his face (honestly you can only stand that for so long). But truth be told, it was because Jenny was in a movie called Dirty Love. To give you a feel of how absolutely awful this movie was, I’ll give you the cast list: Jenny (obvs.), Carmen Electra, and Kathy Griffin. Oh, you’ve never heard of the movie? Not a shock, it was a straight to video, straight to the $3.00 section at Target kind of movie. It was recommended to us and we gave it our full effort. It was the. worst. movie. ever. Well that isn’t fair because we didn’t watch it all so maybe it got better but I wasn’t will to risk getting any stupider. Anyway even though it kind of went downhill for Jim after Ace Ventura, even he has standards. That movie was a deal breaker for him and their relationship plummeted to Splitsville. Just another good lesson on carefully thinking through your career moves.

Anyway on to a couple with better taste.  Rachel of Brilliant Imagery sent me over a fun and funky session that I fell in love with!  She actually sent me photos from the couple’s wedding as well and I loved the bride’s wedding day look so I am throwing in a few of those too. This couple got married in Vegas which pretty much guaranteed a fun session and great photos!

That sweet little lady is their daughter!

How cute is she?

I love how they incorporated so many locations!

Trash the Dress Friday: At Mono Lake

Today’s TTD Session is special for a few reasons. First and foremost it has to be one of the most amazing shoots I have ever seen. The scenery is straight out of a dream. The shoot takes place at Mono Lake in California. The jagged rock formations in the middle of the gorgeous blue lake is amazing enough as it is but throw in a lovely bride in her gown and you have one stunning shoot! Because this shoot is so incredible, I’ve teamed up with Christie of Hindsight Bride to do a double feature so you could see even more photos from this session! Hindsight Bride is a blog dedicated to DIY, Mountain Brides. Christie actually lives near Mono Lake which makes this session even more special to her. I should probably mention the talented photographers behind it all, Minaret Photography. The Minaret Photography team is made up of Josh and Brandon and they are based in Mammoth Lakes, California and Reno, Nevada but will travel as well!

Let’s get to the photos…

I am endlessly mesmerized by clouds which is yet another reason I adore this shoot!

So incredible.

And then just to switch things up and have a little fun, they decided to do a bit of snowboarding!

Don’t you want to book a trip to California’s mountain country ASAP?! Be sure to head over to Hindsight Bride to see more from this session!

Trash the Dress Friday!

Is it seriously Friday already!? I am not upset, just surprised. I am thrilled really because that means I have yet another beautiful Trash the Dress (Rock the Frock, Day After, Re-live the Dress…whatever name your prefer) Shoot to share with you! These photos come from the lovely Maria Butterfield of Butterfield Photography, who has never been featured before. I recently read something that said the biggest reason photographers/vendors do not get featured is because they are too afraid to submit their work. So submit your work folks, the worst someone can say is no thanks which by default means the best they can say is YES!! Plus I am pretty sure ALL bloggers love receiving submissions even if they can’t feature what you send over. Ok, enough with my unsolicited advice for the day! Anyway I am glad Maria mustered the gumption to send this shoot my way because I love it. The couple loves hiking and being outdoors so they set out on a search for somewhere rustic with bits of modern mixed in. The result is stunning!

Oh I forgot to mention, the Bride is gorg!

AND the shoot took place near Tucson, where I went to college! Holla!

I just said Holla. I apologize for that.

Maria said this about the shoot: “Even though the dress didn’t go home covered in mud, soaking wet or damaged we had a lot of fun exploring the area we shot at and doing things you just can’t do on the wedding day.” I couldn’t have said it better myself! TTD Sessions don’t have to be damaging to be amazing!

What are you all up to this weekend? Do weekends after holiday weekends seem a bit lame or are you still trying to recover from all the fun of last weekend? Whatever you do, be safe!

Trash the Dress Friday: In a Magical Forest

Ok truth be told the forest probably isn’t really magical but you sure wouldn’t know that by the look of the images. I almost swear if you look closely you might see little fairies flittering about! I am going to go out on a limb and say this is my favorite TTD session ever. I know I’ve said that before and I’ll say it again but for today this one ranks high up on my list. The photos are so peaceful, beautiful, and well magical. Before we get to the shoot, I  have to give a proper introduction to the photographers who made this dreamy shoot happen.

Meet Ali and Josh of JayLee Photography. I don’t generally post the photographer’s photo but these two are just too darn cute. I was pretty sure you’d want to see their faces! They have big hearts to match their beautiful exteriors! After they submitted this Trash the Dress Session for me to feature I got an email saying that after a little discussion they wanted to do their part to give back. They are offering to donate 10% of any booked packages that mention that they saw them on The Charity Wedding. As if the situation could get any better, they are going to let the couple select the charity to give back to and they will travel just about anywhere to make your photo dreams come true. So essentially you can get some amazing photos from this adorable duo and give back to your favorite local charity at the same time! My heart is swelling with love for these two!

Moving on to their gorgeous session… The third wheel in these photos is Isabella, the Bride’s horse! This free-spirited couple has a love for nature so they wanted a shoot that could reflect that and include their gorgeous horse.  They decided to venture to Squak Mountain Park in Issaquah, Washington to make their dream shoot a reality. Ironically the shoot turned out to look more like a dream than reality! See for yourself.

Alright so who wants to book a trip to Washington to skip through that forest in a flowing dress while waving a wand? Oh, just me? Not very many shoots make me sing Disney songs in my head or make me create awkward scenarios where I pretend to be a princess so that means there is something clearly special about this shoot! You can resist your inner Disney Princess urges if you want but I know you agree with me here.

A Big Thank You to Josh and Ali for sending this shoot my way and for being so generous!

Trash the Dress Friday: At Navy Pier

I nearly passed out this morning when I decided to venture to the front yard and pull a few weeds. Our house faces East/West so we get all the morning sun in the backyard and the afternoon sun in the front yard. It is absolutely ridiculous to do anything in the front yard anytime past mid-morning so I figured I was safe. Perhaps I am just a big pansy but I pulled about two weeds and gave up. I then decided inside chores were more appropriate so I spent a good hour, no joke, cleaning my shower. That makes it sound disgusting which isn’t quite the case, the issue is that we have the worst hard water of all time and the glass shower doors look like they are frosted. However they are not supposed to look that way. I have tried just about every cleaning product known to man and my bicep in my right arm is double the size it once was due to all the scrubbing. In the end, the shower looks EXACTLY the same. I am tempted to say possibly even worse. So someone please give me some old wives’ tale to remove hard water that has been in place for years (I’ve tried vinegar). After two failed attempts at being a responsible homeowner, I gave up.

Anyway enough about me. Today I have a gorgeous Post Wedding Shoot to share that took place on the famous Navy Pier in Chicago. The talented Nikki Evans is the genius behind this shoot! I was instantly smitten when I saw the gorgeous dress which is absolutely swoon worthy. It comes from Laurel Bridal in Chicago.

Are you loving the neckline like I am?!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Trash The Dress Friday!

Happy Friday! Was it just me or did this week FLY by? I am not complaining, trust me. We are off to a weekend filled with family gatherings on both sides. There is no doubt going to be some tasty food involved so I am looking forward to it!

I adore this gorgeous Trash the Dress type session from Stacey Windsor Photography. The images remind me of an ad for perfume and the later ones have an enchanting quality. The Bride is as cute as can be and I can’t get enough of her red shoes! The shoot takes place around Maryland and the beautiful scenery makes me want to book a flight out east immediately. I hope you enjoy these as much as I did!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Trash the Dress Friday!!

Happy Friday! Any great weekend plans? It is safe to say that we have no plans… we are not that fun. But to get my weekend and yours going, I have a super sexy TTD session from Claire Barrett Photography! Claire’s work is no stranger to this blog as she has made an appearance twice on Trash the Dress Friday with this gorgeous shoot and this one. Today’s shoot feels a little bit edgier and includes the handsome groom! Here is a little background info on the shoot from Claire herself:

Lisa and Paolo’s wedding was in Granada Hills and Newhall, CA, but they came down to my location by the beach for their TTD shoot. I took them along the Ballona Creek, quite a spectacular looking place that I discovered because I ride my bike along the path next to the water. I think it is a tributary of the Los Angeles river and runs out to the ocean….the unusual thing about it is that it has been concreted, making it seem totally man-made. It is that perfect blend of urban industrial and nature…rusting bridges, flocks of birds, graffitti, and all different shades of grey/blue/green…….very visually interesting.
She is absolutely right- the location is perfect and such a great contrast with the Bride’s gorgeous dress!
Pretty fabulous, don’t you think? I love the industrial type vibe and the fierce looks on the couple’s faces!
Have a great weekend!

Trash the Dress Friday!

Woo Hoo- Friday is here again! Who votes for a 4 day work week always? Anyone have any fun plans? I am thinking this would actually be a great weekend to go camping or to the lake as it probably won’t be crowded at all. We will probably lay low, perhaps do a little yard work. We have some weeds to attend to before we get any more hate mail from our HOA. We also planted some grapes in the back yard and they are starting to take off which means we need to create some sort of structure for them to climb on. Pretty soon I am going to feel like I have a little vineyard in my back yard! Except that what we planted are not wine grapes but it is just for ambiance. Did I discuss with you all that we started a compost bin? I was super skeptical that it would actually work but I am pretty sure it is and for some reason that really excites me. I am some sort of garden geek. If anything I feel WAY less guilty now when we buy fruit or veggies and then don’t eat them quick enough and instead of throwing them away I can re-purpose them into dirt! No joke I literally threw three heads of romaine lettuce in there last night which makes for some pretty pricey dirt but it is what it is. For some reason we had an abundance of lettuce and although I am not proud of the fact that we completely wasted it, I am glad that at least I didn’t have to straight up throw it in the trash. On a final gardening note we also planted a lemon tree which has been the subject of mockery as A. lemon trees aren’t a prevalent tree in Northern, Az due to the fact that it does freeze here and B. lemons really aren’t the most practical fruit. So to prove everyone wrong, please send your lemon recipes my way so we can make them jealous with our abundant lemon crop.

Alright onto today’s session which is gorgeous, FYI. I had a difficult time selecting which pictures to share. The couple wanted to get some photos in Tempe, home to Arizona State University which happens to be my Grandma’s Alma mater and the arch enemy of my Alma Mater. Go Cats! Anyway the shots by the lovely and talented duo of The R2 Studio are amazing. This is one of those TTD sessions where no dresses are trashed and the couple just takes the opportunity to go where they want and get some fab photos in their wedding day outfits! Enjoy!

LOVE this one.

Wouldn’t you love to have some shots like this to add to your wedding album? I am loving the idea of doing something similar as a first anniversary shoot! You may not fit in that dress forever (sorry but it is true) so you may as well take advantage of it while you can and get some fabulous shots!

Have a great weekend!

Trash the Dress Friday: Black and White Stunner!

Alright be honest- who is already celebrating the first unofficial weekend of summer? If you live in America that is. We are working today but I have pretty much had long weekend on my mind all week. Kyle and I, along with some friends are headed to the lake. Our weekend comes complete with a boat, a BBQ and plenty of sunshine! We are pretty stoked to get out of town and just relax for the weekend. Although I am not quite bathing suit ready, I think this weekend might be the perfect motivation I need to get my exercise on. What are your plans? Anyone getting married? Some of our friends are celebrating their one year anniversary which blows my mind because I remember their wedding like it was yesterday. It also means that we are coming up on 8 months of being married! Time flies faster and faster it seems.

To send you off on this holiday weekend I have a beautiful TTD session courtesy of Juliane Berry. Juliane is an American wedding and portrait photographer who is based in Paris! Jealous? I am. Some of the photos, she took with film as she wanted that edgy, grainy look that film provides. All the pictures are gorgeous and make me fall even more in love with black and white photography. This is what the Bride had to say about the shoot:

“My trash the dress shoot was amazing.  Juliane is the best photographer I’ve ever worked with and we had so much fun. She is a very easy going person, she makes you feel so comfortable and is willing to take any suggestion you may have .  I highly recommend THAT EVERY BRIDE DO IT!!!! It is truly a once in a life time experience.  When else do you get to throw on your dress and play model for the day and then get amazing photos done all while having so much fun. Best of all, my dress did not get ruined.  All in all it was a wonderful, wonderful fun thing to do.”

That is my kind of bride.

Do you love them like I do? SO gorgeous. I kind of want to hang one on my wall and I would if that wouldn’t be completely strange.

Have a happy and safe holiday weekend! And if you don’t live in America- have a great weekend too and have a BBQ in our honor!
