Wedding Wednesday: Newlywed Session

As you know I have a deep affliction for Trash the Dress/Rock the Frock type sessions. Whether the dress actually gets trashed or not, I like the unexpected locations, the creativity, and the ability to get some great shots without worrying about getting your dress a little dirty. Last week I featured a We Did Session which looked a lot like an engagement session but was done post wedding. Today’s shoot is a mix of a We Did session and a Trash the Dress session and to be completely honest, it is gorgeous! This Bride and Groom put their wedding day garb back on to get a few more photos in a more relaxed situation. This beautiful session is from John of The Brand Studio and just about everything is perfection. The bride is stunning, the lighting is wonderful, and the props are sweet and simple. Without further ado…

Lovely isn’t it? Much like a bridal session but with a groom and after all what is so exciting about being a bride unless their is a groom involved?

We Did. An Engagement Session Alternative.

Does anyone feel like it should be Friday already? I am not sure what it is about this week but I am worn out! I could go for a vacation if anyone wants to send me somewhere fabulous. Anyway I have a sweet little session for you today that at first glance might be mistaken for an engagement session. However instead of doing a pre-wedding photo shoot, this couple opted to do a We Did shoot. They decided to take pictures after all the wedding madness was over. I love the idea as some couples may live in different areas than where they are getting married or they may even be long distance couples, military couples, whatever reason that just makes the logistics of scheduling an engagement session impossible. A We Did session is a great chance to still celebrate this great time in your life and get some photos of you as a newly married couple that does not involve your wedding clothes! You’ll have your wedding rings, you may have moved in to a new place together, perhaps you’ve blended families, and all are great reasons to capture this moment on film as opposed to doing a shoot before the wedding. This couple selected several locations that were important to them including where the groom proposed and with a simple change of outfits, they made each place look like a whole new set of pictures. They even incorporated some flowers that the Bride made for the reception. I seriously think this is a great way to prolong your wedding and all the elements you worked so hard on, in a unique and fun way! The photographer behind this adorable shoot is Jason Kaczorowski.

“Yay, we’re MARRIED!!” – what I assume they were thinking.

So what do you think? Would you go for a post wedding “We Did” shoot that could incorporate some of your wedding day elements? All the wedding stress will be gone and you can just have a great time with your new spouse!

Trash the Dress Friday!

Hello Lovelies! Today’s TTD session comes to you from Brittanee Taylor. Of course I have never met or talked to Brittanee personally but her enthusiasm and passion for what she does emanates from her emails! She seems so gregarious and fun to be around. This is what Brittanee had to say about this sweet session:

This trash the dress session was very special to the bride. She had a beautiful traditional wedding at Crossroads Church in Corona. When talking about the Trash the Dress session she wanted something a little bit opposite of her wedding day which was small and intimate. I decided to take her to the beautiful downtown pasadena. This was the perfect place because it was a fun fashionable city and much “busier” than her wedding. As we walked around the busy street Jen was able to strut downtown like she owned the place! I can’t believe how many honks and thumbs up she got! She looked like a model, especially standing in front of Tiffany and Co. I know we both had such a great day!

There is nothing more beautiful than a bride! Take advantage of that and do post-wedding shoot!

Trash the Dress Friday: At Navy Pier

I nearly passed out this morning when I decided to venture to the front yard and pull a few weeds. Our house faces East/West so we get all the morning sun in the backyard and the afternoon sun in the front yard. It is absolutely ridiculous to do anything in the front yard anytime past mid-morning so I figured I was safe. Perhaps I am just a big pansy but I pulled about two weeds and gave up. I then decided inside chores were more appropriate so I spent a good hour, no joke, cleaning my shower. That makes it sound disgusting which isn’t quite the case, the issue is that we have the worst hard water of all time and the glass shower doors look like they are frosted. However they are not supposed to look that way. I have tried just about every cleaning product known to man and my bicep in my right arm is double the size it once was due to all the scrubbing. In the end, the shower looks EXACTLY the same. I am tempted to say possibly even worse. So someone please give me some old wives’ tale to remove hard water that has been in place for years (I’ve tried vinegar). After two failed attempts at being a responsible homeowner, I gave up.

Anyway enough about me. Today I have a gorgeous Post Wedding Shoot to share that took place on the famous Navy Pier in Chicago. The talented Nikki Evans is the genius behind this shoot! I was instantly smitten when I saw the gorgeous dress which is absolutely swoon worthy. It comes from Laurel Bridal in Chicago.

Are you loving the neckline like I am?!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Trash the Dress Friday!!

Happy Friday! Any great weekend plans? It is safe to say that we have no plans… we are not that fun. But to get my weekend and yours going, I have a super sexy TTD session from Claire Barrett Photography! Claire’s work is no stranger to this blog as she has made an appearance twice on Trash the Dress Friday with this gorgeous shoot and this one. Today’s shoot feels a little bit edgier and includes the handsome groom! Here is a little background info on the shoot from Claire herself:

Lisa and Paolo’s wedding was in Granada Hills and Newhall, CA, but they came down to my location by the beach for their TTD shoot. I took them along the Ballona Creek, quite a spectacular looking place that I discovered because I ride my bike along the path next to the water. I think it is a tributary of the Los Angeles river and runs out to the ocean….the unusual thing about it is that it has been concreted, making it seem totally man-made. It is that perfect blend of urban industrial and nature…rusting bridges, flocks of birds, graffitti, and all different shades of grey/blue/green…….very visually interesting.
She is absolutely right- the location is perfect and such a great contrast with the Bride’s gorgeous dress!
Pretty fabulous, don’t you think? I love the industrial type vibe and the fierce looks on the couple’s faces!
Have a great weekend!

Trash the Dress Friday: In An Old Mining Town

You know how they say that babies have cries? Like for example the hungry cry or the tired cry. I never really understood that as all baby crying pretty much sounds the same to me. That was until I realized that my dogs have barks that I can clearly recognize. There is the intruder type bark when someone knocks on the door or they hear a sound, the playing with each other bark, and then the barking at something they want to play with. I heard some barking yesterday and I assumed they were playing with each other. Until it continued and I realized there was something outside that they could see and that they wanted. I assumed a cat was a likely suspect but the way our house and yard are situated make it difficult for them to see a cat. So I walked outside and saw them both staring at the wall. So I was convinced that they had gone mad, maybe just maybe they could see their own reflections in the window? Unlikely as they are small and the window is WAY above them. Then one of them jumps up and I see a tiny lizard. I was amazed that they both saw the lizard and were so interested in it that it was causing a bark fest. I mean what really would a dog do if they caught the lizard- eat it? My only solution was to make them come inside and they were both pretty bummed about it. Sorry for the completely random story but I really thought moms were making up the cry thing and now I know it isn’t so.

As you all know I love TTD sessions. From down and dirty to elegant and sweet. What I love most though is the overall contrast of beautiful wedding attire and not so wedding like surroundings. Whether this is achieved through mud slinging or just a great location really doesn’t matter to me. It is like an oxymoron for your eyes and I can’t get enough. Today’s session is one of those absolutely gorgeous sessions with no mess or fuss, just a great isolated location and beautiful photos. The credit goes to the talented Adam and Imthiaz Photography. I do think this ranks high on my list of favorite post wedding shoots. See for yourself.

If you could pick a funky or unexpected location for a post wedding shoot- where would you go? Without the constraints of the wedding day schedule you can go just about anywhere you please! And if you could get photos like the ones above I think it would be worth it!

Trash the Dress Friday: Malibu Style

If you didn’t know any better you’d think this was a model doing a shoot in Hawaii. But it isn’t so. This gorgeous girl is a real Bride who decided to do a “Trash the Dress” Session with photographer Claire Barrett. I had to put the title in quotes because there was no dress trashing, just pure gorgeousness all around. They did the shoot in Venice, CA which has peaked my interest in taking a trip there as I assume it would be cheaper than getting to Hawaii. I don’t know much about the Bride’s background but I think she should have a career in modeling if she doesn’t already!

LOOOOVE those earrings.Fun jewelry that wouldn’t have worked for your wedding day is a great way to add some pizazz to your post wedding shoot!

Ok so maybe there was a tiny bit of dress trashing but it was worth it, wouldn’t you say? If a TTD shoot could make you feel like a super model- would you do it? Claire, next time you are in Az, sign me up to look this fabulous!

Happy Friday!! Have a great weekend!
