This has been an incredible week for many reasons. One- a company offered to send me free booze samples if I’d try out their cocktail recipes. Done. I accept wine samples too, gladly, just sayin’. We launched The TWIPS blog and it looks amazing! It has been a long road and a lot of work but it has been worth it. I got to spend the day with the absolute cutest children yet at the Camp Soaring Eagle family oncology retreat which always reminds me how blessed I am and how much I have to be thankful for. This was one of those weeks where I really saw hard work pay off and could look around and see fabulous things happening around me. Cheers to that with my free booze! A great week should be capped off by a great Trash the Dress session and luckily, I have one!

Often times when we approach the idea of a “Trash the Dress” session, we are met with reactions ranging from raised eyebrows to downright horror from the mothers of our brides. Even renaming the sessions to “The Day After” or “Honor the Dress” is still not as special to them as the thought of cleaning it, boxing it up and saving it for their future granddaughter to wear proudly down the aisle. (In our fourth year of wedding photography, we have only had 2 brides wear mom’s dress.)
We wanted to show that this was more of a way for the bride to make a fashion statement, enjoy the dress doing something she wanted to do or just have fun wearing the one item she spent months (or years) dreaming about. This session with Stephanie was done in a really “trashy” place (A real junkyard at sunrise) and no special care was taken to protect the dress except to lift it when walking. We had alot of fun exploring the cars and then left to explore the streets of downtown Savannah. No cars OR dresses were harmed during this shoot. This dress has still not been cleaned and has been used for 2 more shoots. As you can tell from the photo’s, it looks fine and if mom still insists, let her clean it, box it up and save it. Just make sure that the future intended brides sees these fun photos also!
The Bride is a stunner, no? So this begs the question: Box it up or take awesome photos in it? Hmmmmm. Awesome photos wins, everytime! Then donate that sucker.
