If you are an old timer around this blog, you’ve heard of Camp Soaring Eagle. It was one of the main beneficiaries of our wedding and a truly special organization to us. If not, it is an organization that sends seriously ill children to camp. The camps are medically based so that they are safe for the children who are facing various illnesses including cancer, asthma, and muscular dystrophy to name a few, but they are similar in every other way to any other camp for children. The sessions are filled with crafts, horse back riding, archery, and various other activities all meant to ensure that for at least one weekend these kids can just be kids. Kyle and I have had the pleasure to volunteer with the organization and have the opportunity to interact with the children. This weekend we will be unit leaders for the oncology camp session. I will have a group of 6-7 year olds and Kyle will have a group of 13-16 yr olds. We are guaranteed to laugh, play, get dirty and end up absolutely exhausted at the end of the weekend!
It seemed fitting to do my Sunday Spotlight on them even though I already have talked about them a bunch of times. However I know the impact they have made to both these children and their families and so if even one new person finds out about them, it will be worth it!
Give them a “Like” on Facebook and help spread the word about this amazing organization for children!
