Floral Drama on A Budget

I had a friend who got married this past weekend who ordered ALL of her flowers wholesale and did the arrangements herself. That is pure craziness to me but I am impressed by her efforts. Of course she likely did it to save money which I support, but keep in mind arranging flowers isn’t as easy as it looks. You pretty much have to do it the day before or even the day of so that the flowers look fresh. I am all about DIY but there are some things you should leave to the professionals and I think flower arranging is one of them. But if you are set on saving major cash by doing the floral work yourself, I have a good option.

Your solution: Baby’s breath. The pros- It is relatively inexpensive, it is available all year long, it is not super delicate, and it doesn’t wilt. I think big bunches of it are classy and unexpected. They would be gorgeous at a winter wedding when other flowers are difficult to find at a good price.

Baby’s breath also dries really nicely so you could re-use it around your home or buy it dried and put the bouquets together in advance.

Baby’s breath is like a good pair of jeans, it can be dressed up or down. It would be perfect for a more casual outdoor wedding but can also look really elegant on a table with crisp linens and china.

Any novice floral designer can throw a bunch of baby’s breath into a vase and you can’t really mess up. Which is a win in my book.

What do you think? Would it work for your wedding?
