Yesterday might have been the least productive day of my life and it reminded me how truly dependent on computers I am. Our office computer had some major malfunctions meaning I was sans computer for the entire day. Other than this being incredibly boring, it also puts us at a bit of a stand still as our entire office functions around our software. It made me long for happy hour and so I figured if your week has been a bit of a drag as mine has, you may be in the mood for a cocktail as well. The kind folks at Canadian Club sent these recipes to me a few weeks ago and I have been waiting for the right opportunity to share them with you. I am not a big whiskey drinker so I wasn’t overly excited by the thought of a whiskey drink… until I actually read the recipes and saw the pictures. They looked perfectly delightful, refreshing, and just like the sort of drink I might order. See for yourself…
The Canadian Club Summer Bliss
- 2 parts Canadian Club Reserve 10 Year
- 1 part DeKuyper Triple Sec
- 4 parts Strawberry/Basil Lemonade*
- Fresh strawberries and a lemon wedge for garnish
Directions: Build in order over ice in a tall glass. Stir. Garnish with fresh Strawberries and a lemon wedge.
* To make the Strawberry/Basil lemonade, cut 1 pint of strawberries in half and drop into a large bowl. Cover the strawberries with sugar (about 1 cup) and refrigerate for 30 minutes. To the strawberries, add 4 cups of water, 2 cups of fresh-squeezed lemon juice and 12 fresh basil leaves (roll up and tear into strips) and refrigerate for another 30 minutes. Then, if you want more strawberry flavor, muddle the strawberries. Then, simply strain the mixture to remove the fruit and pour into a serving pitcher, adjust with sugar to achieve desired sweetness, drop in a few fresh strawberries, lemon wheels and a sprig of basil.
Raspberry Canadian Lemonade
- 2 parts Canadian Club Reserve 10 Year
- 1 part Cruzan Raspberry Rum
- 4 parts Raspberry Lemonade (prepared or fresh)
- Fresh raspberries, mint and a lemon wedge for garnish
Directions: Build in order over ice in a tall glass. Garnish with fresh raspberries, a sprig of mint and a lemon wedge.
Doesn’t this make you think of whiskey in a whole new way? I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you these were tasty and they rank high on my list of favorite cocktails!

**I was given a bottle of CC so that I could try these recipes out for myself. I was under no obligation to share them or tell you how delicious they were.**
