Guest Post on Kiss My Tulle

Hello Lovelies! If you are right in the midst of wedding planning, close to being swallowed up by color swatches, candle sticks, and cake flavors, I have a story from one Bride that will help put it all back into perspective. Weddings, of course, are not about flowers, or details, venues, or playlists. Weddings are about the love between two people, a celebration of marriage, not a celebration of who can make the best DIY decor. Whether you have a $2000 wedding or a $20000 wedding, the results are the same: you are married! When all is said and done that is what is important and it is easy to forget that while you are trying to throw a party. The other crucial element of a wedding is to have those that you love most around to celebrate with you on your big day. They might never say it but they could care less if your chairs match or if you serve a three course meal. They just want you to be happy and want to celebrate your happiness with you. Unfortunately for one Bride she had a heart breaking wake up call that made her abandon her plans for a typical wedding in an effort to have a wedding that included one of the people that matters most to her.

Cris of the blog Kiss My Tulle was in the middle of planning her budget savvy May 2012 wedding complete with DIY details. She has paid deposits, sent out Save the Dates, and spent much time creating her vision of her big day. Then one day her world took a terrible turn. Her father was diagnosed, out of the blue, with an extremely aggressive form of cancer that gives him just a month to live. She packed her things and left her Texas home to head back to her hometown in Alaska to be with her father. With a sundress in tow she and her fiance determined that they weren’t willing to get married without her father present so in just a few days they planned a civil ceremony and a small family celebration. Her father served as the officiant. No details, no fancy dresses, but a dream wedding none the less. You can read about her struggle and how this new wedding came to be on her blog. I am sure she will be providing all the details on how it all turned out!

In an effort to alleviate just a tiny bit of the burden she faces, I offered to write a guest post so she could focus only on her family. Head over to her blog to see it and to show your support, she could certainly use it during this difficult time! I am showing you how to make some great signs or decor for your wedding!
