Happy Monday My Dears! How was everyone’s weekend? Kyle and I did manage to get some yard work just as I thought we would. However little to no weeds were pulled. We did make some stellar progress on our garden so in a few short weeks we should have an abundance of tomatoes, strawberries, peppers, and broccoli! Our fear is that we will get this great crop all at once and we will be eating broccoli for 2 weeks straight. Other than that our weekend was pretty mellow.
Today I have a gorgeous engagement session to share with you all! I am excited about it for a few reasons. One: generally I find engagement sessions to be a bit boring to anyone besides the couple at hand and perhaps their close friends and family. But this one is absolutely not boring. And Two: The photographer, Nikki Evans, has never been featured on a blog before! Once you see her work you will realize how absolutely crazy that is as she does incredible things with her camera! A friend of mine who lives in the Chicago area met Nikki at a Chamber of Commerce event and then suggested I check out her work. I did, and the rest is history! I am so honored to be the first to bring her work to the world of wedding blogs! Be sure to show her some extra love! I asked Nikki to share a little about this shoot and here is what she had to say:
As for the engagement styled shoot, a lot of my clients forgo engagement sessions and I feel they are so important. This is how I can get to know my clients better. So, I came up with the theme and the props and found the really neat outdoor setting next to my favorite railroad tracks. Styled shoots are my specialty I can make them represent my brand (fine art Vintage and Classic elegance). I want to attract DIY Brides and Vintage lovers like my myself. I like to take models and woman alike and bring out the feminine beauty in them and as far as my young men and boys, I want their masculine yet gentleman side to be unveiled. Garden weddings are my favorite. Props are my obsession.
The couple in this shoot made the signs themselves! DIY + Vintage styling = a pure visual delight!
Aren’t they a gorgeous couple? I love what just a little bit of planning and a few props can do for a typical engagement session! Thank you so much Nikki for letting me share this shoot! Stay tuned for a wedding by Nikki in the near future!
