You know what I’m talking about… CAKE! Yum. I’ll be honest if I had to choose between a list of desserts cake would rarely be my top pick but wedding cake is different. To me it is one must have tradition that I didn’t want to skip. Cake artistry has come a long way and wedding cakes have become more than just a dessert but part of the decor. I seriously can’t wait to eat mine and would even consider cutting it before dinner to insure that everyone got to enjoy it! Our cake will be Red Velvet and Carrot and my mouth seriously waters just thinking about it! In some bakeries beauty has replaced taste as wedding cake is often dry with a thick layer of rubber like fondant. While I do love the gorgeous look of cakes, I’d rather have a store bought sheet cake that tastes good, rather than a gorgeous wedding cake that doesn’t. Make sure you get to taste frosting, fondant, and the cake at your tastings. Ask how the fondant is made, homemade is obviously going to taste better than something they get out of a package. Of course you could eliminate fondant all together but it really helps everything stay together and gives the cake a structured look. If you are having an outdoor wedding that has even the slightest chance of being warm, the fondant will help prevent against melting. No one does both beauty and decadence better than Donna Joy of Sedona Sweet Arts. I know my cake will be gorgeous but even more importantly I know it will taste amazing! Enjoy some cake inspiration!
What flavors of cake are you having? Or are you doing some totally unique dessert option? Are you offering other desserts besides cake?

Donna did our wedding cake as well and we had the red velvet….my mouth waters just thinking about it. Our cake was beautiful and hands down the best tasting cake I have ever had. I had to encourage some guest to eat it because they were used to wedding cakes not being so good. I had multiple guests go back for 2nds…….and I was one of them
Enjoy your big day and enjoy your cake.
