Hair Trial-Round One

For those that don’t know, before getting your hair done on the big day you typically have at least one trial with your hair dresser to make sure you like what they do before the actual day. It is an interview of sorts to insure you have someone reliable and able to fulfill your wedding hair dreams. Of course you pay for their time so I imagine most brides don’t do multiple trials. I am extremely lucky to have a sister who is about to be a licensed cosmetologist which means I can have as many trials as I want for the small price of a soy latte. Just yesterday she had to do a formal updo for an assignment and asked if I’d be willing to be her model. Of course it was a win win for both of us because it gave her a chance to practice in addition to completing an assignment and me a chance to see what I may like. My vision is a loose, wavy up-do that is classy yet relaxed. My hair is incredibly straight and does not hold curl well so come the actual day, hot rollers or something of that nature will be necessary but yesterday we relied only on the curling iron. After an hour spent spiral curling small portions of my hair, once she put it up, you would never know she curled all of it from root to tip. I have been looking for pictures of styles I like and essentially have given up my google search of “wedding updo’s” which generally produces hairstyles circa 1980 and replaced it with the search term “celebrity updos.” Just a little tip to frustrated brides. Amazingly it is very difficult to find sites that cater to wedding hair that is actually cute. Anyway yesterday wasn’t perfect but my sister wasn’t working off of any picture just a general idea and overall I think it was a good start.

Here are a few of my inspirations:
